They do better near the sand bed or on top of rocks?That's a tough one, those pectinias can throw out some 6" sweepers.
I like to put my pectinias in corners.

If it makes you feel any better, I think the bubble algae looks kinda cool. I understand it's an unwanted pest but at least it looks interesting.Well, I am clearly losing the battle with Valonia AND Ulva. I was on top of it, making sure there were no visible bubbles, but they were all back and then some after the weekend. So now I can't even keep up with what's there. This is an especially aggressive Valonia! The Valonia in my other tank reproduces at a slow rate.
The most difficult, I think, is not the Valonia covering the rocks--those I can scrape off and suction away--it is the Valonia and Ulva that are attaching to my macroalgae:
This makes it nearly impossible to remove without sacrificing the macro, which I didn't want to do. It is also growing on my branching GSP, which is difficult to remove.
And of course, Ulva attaches to any bare spot on my stony corals like this pavona:
And frag plugs. They appear faster than I can remove them:
It looks like pretty soon everything will look like this (and this is a shady part of the tank):
So, I'm throwing in the towel on this and going for a more direct intervention. Been working with @Eric Cohen on a plan using Flux Rx, and I'll report how it goes here and in a Flucanozole thread to see if this particularly aggressive Valonia outbreak can be quashed.

In other news, my current stocking thoughts for Fish #5-8 are:
5. Yasha shrimp goby
6. Blue Star Leopard Wrasse
7. Spendid Pintail Fairy Wrasse (this is still the wildcard and I continue to waffle)
8. Wait it out for a Ruby Longfin Fairy Wrasse, maybe months or longer, but also assess whether the C. rubeus will work with the tank after observing the other two wrasses, gobies, blenny and clowns.
I will wait until the next tank upgrade for H. iridis and the bigger fairies and flashers.
I think you helped me figure out what these green leafy algae things are in my tank! Here I was trying to see if I could manage to grow more of it because it was prettier than the hairy stuff haha

I moved it to the corner on to the sand, it looked like this before the move.
Just did not look right to me.
It did outgrow it's 3" plate.
Doesn't look like it grew, but it's an alcicornis. They grow out words. Space invader should be elongata and will grow faster.

Yup! This guy is mine
I love them and although they don’t always feed on frozen they’re perfect for smaller tanks as generally they’ll eat maybe 30-40 pods a day (nowhere near the number a dragonet will eat). This guy was out and about in my 20G Max Nano but when he hit my current nano (3’x16”x1’) he hid and generally only gets seen every 3-6 months from what I’ve noticed. It’s fun though as you just get a peek of him every so often. He does mostly hop around the sand and crawl over it. As you can see in the video the way he moves his fins around to crawl on the sand is unusual compared to other gobies and even just fish that swim on the sand. If you’re interested in this species and don’t mind not seeing them 24/7 then it’s a great idea however I’d avoid anemones with these guys as they can risk getting caught in them.
I have an article on here somewhere about this species and their cousin (Discordipina filamentosa) if you’re interested.

I'm not crazy about it, but I don't hate it. The aluminum framing, I guess is sturdy and can support the tank. The piece of whatever you put on top that sits below the tank feels super cheap. The "shelf" that goes on the bottom is also cheap and too bendy to put anything with any weight on it--I ended up using the wooden middle shelf piece at the bottom, sacrificing a few inches, so that the refrigerator and 5gal RODI carboy could sit there safely. Then got another piece of wooden shelf since they don't offer extra shelves to purchase.
If you have any carpentry skills, I am sure you can make an awesome stand for this tank. If not, this stand works, look pretty good and is functional.

24 hours after adding Flux Rx at 80mg/mL. As expected, no change in the Valonia, but also noted no changes yet in any of the corals, CUC or fish.
And the IM Nuvo 10g is back online! Removed some of the macroalgae that looked clear of Valonia and put it in the 10g as a backup in case the Flucanozole wipes out my DT macroalgae. I also threw away a lot of branches of Botrycladia and Cryptonemia that were overtaken by Valonia and/or Ulva. The Caulerpa prolifera, interestingly, doesn't seem to get Valonia sticking too it, except for bits that get mixed in with the rhizoids/sand clumps. Managed to remove those and put some in the 10g. The Caulerpa is a really fast and invasive grower. I'm trying to think of the best way to get this going well in the tank while still being able to keep it from overtaking everything. I hope the codium survives the Fluc OK, as it is one of my primary nutrient sinks. I threw a sprig in the 10g just in case. Now I'm almost feeling like keeping this 10g as a mini macro tank :~) Oooo, maybe seahorses?

Why is it that you have that frag rack right in the front of the tank? Lighting? It kinda distracts from the overall tank right there.
As far as the smaller macro tank - didn't you want some pipefish ?

Doing what I can to keep everything else happy in the meantime. Dual air stones in the back, extra feeding and target feeding corals, adding PNS Probio. This stuff needs to go!That’s the spirit! Stick it to that bubble algae

Since I have no space on the sand I put the Pectinia I got as a gift from a fellow reefer in the back of the tank away from the highest light blasts. Seems pretty happy. Plus give them a good amount of space as I’ve heard they can be fairly aggressive.

I unfortunately deleted a photo I took of my tiny space invader that's only about the size of your thumb nail with a sweeper tentacle twice its body length. This guy is going to be trouble when he gets bigger, so going to find a good corner for him. If he misbehaves I might get a joker galaxea and let them go thunder dome in the corner.
