Hello-

I am not sure if you are all aware of what has happend to the area of Joplin this past day. Yesterday around 6pm there was a large thunderstorm that had rolled through the region of Joplin causing serious damage. Before the storm had reached Joplin, the storm had build up enough power and strength to produce many tornadic cells which then resulted in tornados tearing apart the city of Joplin.

Many of the cities buildings including the Hospital and Walmart have been totaly ruined and will take a while before they are rebuild and to a point at which people will be able to use the facilites again.

At this point in time, there has been a reported 90+ deaths that have been caused by this storm.

For more information, pictures,or film of the storm, damage, etc. watch CNN,Today Show, local news, etc. for all of the above information and details on this storm.

Please keep these familes who have been effected by this storm in your prayers and please help in any way you can.

I live only a couple of hours from Joplin and I have made it through the storm, however, part of my roof is now missing and has been damaged by the storm.

Thanks Guys-
Austin

I saw the pics on The Weather Channel last night and it was another horrible storm! Glad you made it through without any terrible destruction.

Been watching the coverage and it's just crazy. Glad to hear that the damage is minimal and fixable. It sounds like there are thousands that lost everything. We're thinking about you guys!

Thanks guys...unfortunatly,some of my family is gone,we are unsure at this point,we are awating the email(since we have no phone service at all)on the update...

We are going to make a trip down to help out,and help the ones who where effected the most.I have been lucky I have not been effected like the other have, the roof is being fixed right now, contractors are over fixing it as we speak...

Ill keep you guys updated... =(

Sorry to hear about your loss. Any explanation why the region has been hit so hard with tornadoes this year?

There is generally a wave of tornadic cells that go over this region of the US yearly. For some reason it is coming a little eairly. However, this year has been worse then any other year. They are saying this storm has been one of the worst ones we have had in nearly 60 years due to the high rate of death that we have experianced this time around.

Im not sure what is going on with the weather scientificly,I just think that its natural reasonings.Missouri, and Oklahoma get hit yearly pretty hard by tornadic cells.
