Here's some background on my tank.

It was setup in Feburary of 2011. I filled it with my previous 80G LR and replaced the LS with new sand (keeping a few cups of the old stuff to seed the tank). The tank is a mixed reef and many of the frags held on my frag racks are being held for our COOP program in Dallas/Ft. worth area.

Getting it off the truck. We thought it was tipping over for sure.

Its Heavier than it looks.jpg

Believe me its A LOT heavier than it looks!

Got it in place, no scratches to the floor.jpg

Its new home, wasn't moved more than a couple inches from this spot afterwards (you can tell some of th emolding came off during the move, its back on )

FAST FORWARD 6 MONTHS: Here's a video of the recent setup (taken a few months ago, pardon my lack of focusing skills):

Here's an updated video a couple months later now:

This will be the last video with this lighting. I will be moving to LEDs and am in the process of installing them now.

I went to the new maxspect Mazarra LEDs back in December and I've been struggling to keep my corals from burning at the top and getting enough light for the corals at the bottom. I can't find a happy medium unfortunately. The LEDs make everything pop (until it dies) but I'm really debating what my next step should be. Here's a quick picture of the tank when I got the LEDs on and a timelapse I made showing the ramping of the Maxspect LEDs. This was back in December, lost about 60% of the corals since then with more inevitably on their way out (after having them for almost a year under different lights).

Looks great man and sorry about the LED trouble. I have definitely killed corals due to my LED's.

You need to ramp up SLOW, corals can die faster from really high light than relatively low light for sure, eventually it will even out.

I've ramped up pretty slowly and basically have just stopped/backed off due to tips burning. I'm at abouut 85% for 4 hours a day. I really like mostly blues on in the evenings but I think that is causing some of the issues. It's really trial and error.
