Just got everything set up and cycling! It’s been quite a journey over the years. I started in the hobby a decade ago with a smaller Red Sea AIO and stuck with smaller cubes for a while. But I always found myself wanting more—more fish, the chance to try my hand at corals. So, I finally took the leap and upgraded to a Waterbox Reef 100.3, and I couldn’t be happier. I’m beyond excited to watch it all come together over time!

So unfortunately I didn’t get to document much of the set up process.

so I thought I would share a little bit of what I got going on.

The aquarium is a Waterbox Reef 100.3 along with a Waterbox stand.


I decided to go with 60lbs of special grade live sand, and about 67-68lbs of a mix of of rock primarily marshall island along with some odds and ends to piece everything together.

For lighting I’m running two AI Hydra 32s

For flow I went with a Maxspect xf330 cloud edition

Down below the sump is modified to accommodate a reefmat 500, Reef octopus 150 skimmer, Reef Octopus varios 4 return pump, and Duetto ATO,


At some point here I plan to incorporate a refugium

As of 3/2/25 levels have stabilized and looking awesome. I’ve went ahead and added a couple clowns and some zoas courtesy of @Corals.com


I also added a second gyre and moved them to the left and right side of the overflow for a more clean look and hopefully even flow throughout the tank
