Jumping Bullet Goby

I have always heard about fish jumping out of tanks but never experienced until yesterday morning. I work up and walked into my living room and saw something on the floor. I was wondering what my son had left on the floor. That is when I saw my bullet goby dried up on the floor. It happened on Halloween of all nights. I was dumbfounded. This fish never came to the top of the tank and was always sifting the sand around the bottom of my tank to make little living holes under my rocks. It never had a problem with my Clownfish and my Clowns did not seemed bothered by it when it swam right next to them to eat. After this horror story I am going to build a mesh cover and put a Canopy on to help prevent this from happening in the future. Now I have to find a replacement Fish for my son that sifts the sand. Any recommendations? I only have a pair of clowns that tend to stay near my Hammer.

Gobies are jumpers! A mesh top will help to stop it.

diamond gobies are my favorite sand sifters...they are so active! =)

My yellow watchman goby literally never leaves his burrow. Then one day I'm cleaning out my filter floss bucket in the sump and there he is. Whaaaaat? I put him back in the tank and he's "never" left his burrow since. I think....

How hardy are they. The reason I had a bullet was the LFS said that the diamonds are not as hardy?

Tank is 60 gallons. it has been running for about a year but was seeded with part of my sand and LR from my old tank. It is doing really well and I am getting tons of growth from my zoa

Never had a bad experience with one over the years...have had 3 in total. One of them was a pair and my first ever I bought solo.

Definitely get a lid! although one has never jumped on me...and i haven't had a lid myself...i hear they do.

diamond goby ended up being the "fan favorite" in the house!
you will love them.
