Back into the hobby after about 7-8years. Previously had a 75g.
Was debating whether or not to make a build thread. So it’s not quite from the beginning.
Picked up a new to me (third owner) 180g grabbed a 75g during the Petco tank sale for a sump.
Removed the internal overflows and covered the holes, drilled out for a synergy shadow v3 overflow. Resealed the tank.
Just got it filled with tap water a couple days ago to test everything. So far so good, here’s a couple pictures.
It’s not going to be the most exotic setup but it’ll be good enough for me.

Still have a bunch of wiring to do, controller board ect.

Best of luck with the setup! What are you planning on adding to the tank?

Thank you! As far as fish and coral, I’m planning on mostly LPS/softies and not totally sure on fish. Going to get a couple mocha clowns to start with, and I would love to have 4-6 tangs. That’s really why I went with a 180 to have some bigger fish.

Got the aqua scape done, some gulf live rock in the fuge, as well as sand in. Mixed up the 210ish gallons of water it ended up taking to fill.
Have begun cycling, ordered a couple mocha clown fish at my LFS who also does a QT.
Also grabbed a few mangroves and have them half done hanging until the plant hangers I ordered come in.
Working on controller cabinet and getting everything tidied up today

Got this done last weekend and finished setting everything up during the week. So far really enjoying the ease of use of Hydros.
Skimmer should be here this weekend too.

A lot late for an update, but here goes.
Had a rough start adding fish, got a pair of quarantined clownfish from my LFS- first one in the tank went directly into the power head.
A few couple weeks later the other one seemingly randomly died.

Prior to that I picked up a blue hippo tang and a diamond goby. They’re both still doing great.
Got a yellow tang, and watchman goby they’re doing great!
Then 1 week ago I got a one spot fox face and a convict tang. Woke up this morning and the fox face was dead.
Little discouraged, he was hiding for a couple days but wasn’t discolored or showing signs of something wrong. Convict tang and all other fish are fine.

Phosphates 2.45
I’m running a GFO reactor for the phosphates now, but from what I had read that isn’t going to kill fish.
