So I have Gulfliverock that just arrived next day air. It had to sit in a warehouse all night though because it arrived late.

I'm looking for fire worms or any ugly worms.. or shrimps that I can't recognize but what about these clams? This big one is definitely dead but there are 2 more on this rock should I use a chisel to remove them so they can't die later or should they be ok in my IM Nuvo 50g.

IM Nuvo 50 g + Trigger triton 20 sump

I'd clean out/scrape that shell with the dead clam rather than pry it off. any residual the hermits will have a meal. but if this is a brand new set up, you may not have enough stability to keep the others alive.

Yeah I am a little worried for the die off. It is a new setup but I want to put fish in next week.

Found a few dead shrimps like the one on the right of the second picture. Might have a bit of life left but I don't think I need wild shrimps. Also saw a tiny crab. Should I try to remove any crab?

it takes weeks before you see everything crawl out. I'd put it all in, watch for ammonia spikes. remove it later if it does. you don't want to keep it out of water long even with taking pictures. if this was not shipped submerged, you will have a spike anyway.

Remove the clams later if they die ? Will they just be gaping open when they die?

I'll be testing but I assume the die off should be over after a week. I'm just thinking about remove the clams so they can't die on me later. The system is only about 50 gallons.

let some others chime in on what they think. But you would need to dose some plankton to keep the clams alive if it's a new system. My guess would lean that a sizable clam will not make it if it was shipped outside of water. If it's just the one rock, you could try and keep that one circulating in a bucket with a heater and flow and feed it and place the others in the DT and get them curing.

I removed the dead one and got the other 2 on that rock. I'll leave the last 2 and watch them.

I just put in 150lbs of GLR. Im at 25 days. I removed the dead ones and removed a few more a few days later.
I used 2 bozzles of Turbo start to help keep ammonia down on day one.
I have 4 yellow tail damsels, 1 hawkfish that I put in after week one.
Get a good cleanup crew going.
I have 4 turbos, 20 trochus, 20 hermits, 20 astrea, and 8 emerald crabs. All of the above have cleaned the rock and will keep algae to a minimum.
Last count I have 16 healthy bivalves.
Lights on from day one.
Already running my Carx. Tanks using 0.5 alk per day.
Anyway thats how I have done it with live rock for 30+.
I have since added a golfball size Jacko lepto, and a war coral, purple stylo. All are doing well.
Just make sure to keep parameters stable and.
