Just got new rock!!

Get lots of circulation and now is a good time to start tuning in your skimmer. Be prepared for that tank to cycle. You are probably seeing lots of die off from the rock right now. In all honesty you have no idea how long that rock is out of the water and what was growing on it. Don't make too many changes at once go slow and steady .

OK. BTW: I can't see squat in the tank right now. It's so full of floating sand and debris right now I can't see very well. Any ideas of how to see into the tank. I figure it's more of a give it time kind of thing

in all honesty I would drain it completely and fill with clean water. might cost a few bucks worth of salt but save a lot of annoyance and for me its worth it.

I'll do that but I can't get any clean water right now. I'm going to place it in the tank with drained water and then put the old water back in. It's not the best idea but it'll help me see the rick

FYI I know there is probably to much rock in the tank but if the circulation looks good, I like the look of the tank and I still paid for the rock.

You may want to pull it off the back of the tank and let the circulation get in there. Especially since it's
Going to be a community tank , keep the dead spots to a
Minimum .

Here's the advice I was given on the very first tank I rocked. Think tripods. That is, put down three smaller rocks covered by a big rock. Continue across the tank. You have now opened up the rock and given fish places to hide.

I tend to use 1lb per gallon depending on the porousness.

Thank you all 4 your ideas. It may not be the BEST idea but I am going to try it as it is. I have had many tanks previously set up the same way and it worked. I believe this should be fine. If I were to make it a predator fish only tank, would the needs change at all?

PS: I might change the rock a little bit with the three-one idea.
