Just got some flasher wrasses glass or mesh top for tank?

I have a 300 dd and it came with the glass top.

I ran it open top until today when I came home with a pair of un identified flasher wrasses. I'll post picks to see if anyone can tell me what kind they may be.

So pros and cons of glass top?

Is mesh better?

glass will trap heat. I run an open top on my wrasse filled tank, no jumpers in 3 years.

That's what I thought. I have a basement sump so I was told it would not heat up too much.

make a mesh top for it. Really easy and cheap. You can get the netting from Bulk Reef Supply and the rest of the stuff at Home Depot.

Glass tops will trap heat, also I believe that it effects the gas exchange. If it was me I would do a screen top, just to be safe. They are fairly simple to put together and for me it would give me reassurance that I won't have a fish go carpet surfing.

Your ph will drop, you will have more evaporation, and you can lose par. Do the mesh!

Most definitely need a clear 1/4" mesh top.

I build myself a mesh top with mine. I like it so much better than glass..
