Just upgraded from a biocube (have had it for 8 years) to an aquatop 48.

One key bit of advice I learned, do not go cheap with lighting. spend $129 now, then $350 later for a total of $480 instead of $350;)

I agree 100% I'm going to take my time researching each upgrade so I don't end up doing what you just mentioned because I didn't do my homework! [emoji4] thank you for the info, I really appreciate it!

There are a few AI profiles now out there you can load. I had mine turned up too high until I used one the advertised profiles. If you decide to go with AI I would use one of the profiles.
It seems like there is a definite process switching to the AI, I will measure sure I use a profile. Thank you!

HEre is the link if you go that route. I use Karen’s and it’s been great. The problem with programable LED is what setting to use and then don’t keep fiddeling with it once set. I had mine up too high initially and then found these profiles in a magazine. I had noticeable improvement in about three weeks. Hope this helps:)

Allison,

FWIW
If you go AI, then to get the right led spread, I'd go with two 26Hd's and @jsker has the best AI profile that I've even seen.

But... (lol) I'm used to running Kessils ;Wacky

Decided to go with the AI prime HD and am using Jsker's profile and I love it! 2 more questions for my next purchases. Protein skimmer recommendations(I would like one that goes in the sump, not one that hangs of the back). How many powerheads should I have in a 48 gallon and recommendations of brand. Please and thank you in advance!
