Where to start. I've been in this group for some time but have not posted anything about my tank yet. I started with a 65 gallon tank with a lot of diy stuff done to it. My tank did not come out like I wanted it to. I cheaper out on a lot of things and got sloppy with the build.
After much consideration on a larger tank. I talked the wife into a 93 gallon cube. That then transformed into a 120 gallon reef ready. After much time at the lfs she said well hell the 220 would only cost a grand more. I knew better but I went with it.
After searching on some local message boards I found a used tank and stand combo for $800 bucks. So that let me have an extra 2 grand of my budget to get a few things I want.
As far as the equipment went I did not want to build another sump. So I purchased a eshopps rs300. I wanted more volume. But I think I can get by just fine with this unit Leaves a little extra room under my stand.
Here is the equipment list I have so far.
-3 kessil a360we
- 2 Maxspect gyre xf250's ( was going to go with vortech but I have grown fond of the water flow with these l)
-sicce5 return pump
-aquatop 800 titanium Heater with controller
-eshopps rs-300 sump with fuge
-eshopps s-300 snow cone skimmer
-brs 6 stage 75gpd ro/di system
Picking up a auto top off today and a refugium light
Also getting 150 pounds of live rock and around 160 pounds of Fiji pink sand.
Also plan on getting the eshopps dosing system in a month or 2.
Once the tank has cycled I will move everything from my 65 to it. I have about 80-90 pounds of live rock that is going from the 65 to the 220.
Also due to the weight I had to brace my floor. Luckily where it is located I had a steel I beam brim my double wide right next to the tank. I added 2 floor jacks to brace the joist on the other side of the tank.
Here are some pic that I have so far. Let me know what you think and any advice.
I have some cord management to take care of and need to put my 3rd kessil in. Also will put my 2 kessil 160's once o break down the 65
