Gonna wait till pay day on Friday and place an order for the UV, gates valves, and cycling shhtufff. Then plumbing begins.

Was a great time! Glad she didn’t leak
I had to pause for that one. Filter enabled. :D

Bleached rocks look purdy. Decided to tweak the broken pieces from the first set up down front on the left.

The montipora skeleton might end up with a softball sized homewrecker sitting besides a rainbow Mille... coral placements and colors will be last.

Just snagged a BNIB APex FMK. Cheap open box deal.
1x - 1" flow sensor
2x - 1/2" flow sensors

So now we choose the return plumbing to keep it all on 1 system, running wet 24/7 to help aid in stagnant water issues down the road.

Aqua Ultraviolet 15w will be the choice for UV.

Heres the doodle.

FS is flow sensor. (blue)
GV is gate valve. (Red)

My return is dc, and adjustable. No need to gate valve anywhere else except the intake for the UV.

THE UV disconnects and drops right out the bottom of that 3/4" line. But i wont need to remove it. This model has a twist-off end, and the bulb and shield come right out like it should.

I figure if i need to remove anything, it can all just come as one. My reactor runs indepedent. And nothing elae im adding will require a flow source.

No check valve this time around. No need. Will plumb the overflow to match the available space in my sump, which is now about 25ish gallons. Plenty to take a failure or power loss on the return pump.

I may tweak it, but this is pretty much end game me thinks. That pic above probably brought me close to 15 plumbing layouts. Been at it for 3 hours.

If I new you was defiantly installing a gsp you could have takin mine. Sorry I didn’t know.

The location you put the flow sensor won’t tell you the flow through uv. It will only tell you the flow bypassing uv.
Its cool, i couldnt use 2". Return is 1" all the way. The first flow sensor outside the UV track is to keep track of my maine return line flow.

The 2nd flow sensor is right after the UV, wouldnt that give me the flow rate coming out, which matches going in? Or is that 90° turn exit from the UV gonna screw up the numbers? I am plumbing a full 8" off the main line, because like u advised, apex recommends 5X flow sensor diameter for the straight path. Before and after the sensor.

So the flow sensor after the UV, is 1/2". 5 X 1/2 = 2.5 inches. So thats covered in a straight line after the uv, prior to the sensor... and also 2.5" straight before joining back up to the main return line..

Idk how else to manage it without a closed-loop system with a dedicated 2nd pump for the uv. Which i am 95% against at the time.

Hmmm...

You're going to have to have a valve somewhere between the T's or you will get no flow through the UV atall....
You sure? The head pressure wont force the 230gph i need through the "manifold"?

If not, i could add a gate valve just under the overflow union to force the pressure through the uv line i assume?
