Think i found the plumbing routing... please pick it apart.

My only fear with this setup is it will be difficult to purge air from the UV when you start it up which might cause issues with the UV itself

@RichtheReefer21 how tall is the UV? And how tall is your tank?
20" tall tank.

13" uv. 15w.

My only fear with this setup is it will be difficult to purge air from the UV when you start it up which might cause issues with the UV itself
If i run the "uv loop" wide open before tuning itll purge any air by closing down the main lime GV. Once i dial in the flow for the uv to kill algae spores, it will never be turned off from the flow, reducing issues, air, and surface build-up inside. The lamp itself will be on command, but the flow through it will be 24/7.

I have 19" from the top of the sump to the bottom of the bulkheads. So with only 33" of lateral stand space to plumb it all in, this routing is the best i could come up with to avoid a 2nd dedicated pump and the closed-loop option...

Laying this out and having a 'cube' sump was a pain, but i want all the piping to be completely out of the way. Having access to all 3 sides of this sump is going to help with husbandry a lot.

BRS order placed.

Going to combine Dr Tims one and only, fritz turbo start and the trusty seachem stability for the biab.

-3/4" spears Gate valve
-Aqua UV 15w black body

Reusing the 1" gate valve from the 125.

Plumbing should start next weekend. Im just gonna grab some fritz rpm blue from @thejuice24 to cycle the rock. Still havent decided on which salt im gonna use for the actual reef.

Pfft..... you guys and your "designer salts". Ever wonder why IO has been around for so long? Not only because it's cheap, but because it's extremely consistent from box to box.

This hobby is expensive enough without having to pay $75+ for a pail of salt.

While I would never steer someone away from a salt of choice, just keep in mind and the end of the day, salt is salt. I've used pretty much every salt out there over the years(except TM, simply because of the price), and always end up back on IO.

My last reef i ran on the cheapest salt possible. The rpm blue.
And it grew everything.

About 8 months:

Even had a WD startin to spread a base (to the right):

Its more about what salt matches the levels i plan to run. Having a probiotic boost like tropic marin provides is just another thing to consider in the planning.

Hey, less holiday greetings, more get back to plumbing!:p
In 2 months i think im already past your 8 month mark for progress. :p

BRS order got stuck. May not get it today as hoped. So plumbing is on hold, BUT... i did manage to get the rocks in for the start of the 4 month cycle.
