Kalk Placement Help

I could use some help.

My kalk is pumping into my refugium which is low flow.

Here is a pic. Any suggestions on where to place the reactor?

Hmmm, imo, high flow would be better. Like the return area.
Or are you asking where to put the whole reactor? Like where it is now is fine

There is no open space on the right, which is the better flow area. The refugium is boarded off because that’s the Red Sea 900 model.

I feel like it is hampering the refugium because it is raising the ph in that section and the water isn’t moving out fast enough to cycle with the rest of the tank.

The whole reactor needs to be close to where it drips.

What about where the water leaves the refuge? Can it be terminated there?

Here is a cleaner pic of the layout. There is nowhere to put it on the left. Which is where I would prefer it to drain.

I have a Red Sea 650 and I'm going to be building an Avast Kalk reactor this weekend. I plan to house it in the electronics side and drill a hole for the tube to go to my return pump. You should be able to drill a hole large enough for the tube to go through in that cabinet. It won't affect the strength or anything. Tensile strength of plywood/particle board is surprising.

The water goes into and out of the refuge.
You have it in the middle I presume.
If you put the Kalk where the water leaves the refuge, it won't bother the algae anymore. It will be downstream.

The fuge inlets and outlets are submerged about 9 - 10 inches from the water line, so there isn’t really any high flow area to set the drip line above. There isn’t a a lot of water movement to be honest given the sumps design since it behaves more like a static extension of the sump, it does not experience the same level of turn over in my opinion the actual sump does.

With a running tank, I’m concerned about drilling near water where crap could get in the tank.

Also in order the reactor to drip the line needs to be lower than the top of the reactor.

I’m open to change the placement of the reactor or line but I am just not sure how to
accomplish it :(

Not sure if it's too tall but you could put it in the sump with a skimmer stand keeping it out of the water then it would be above the water and gravity drip would work.

Honestly using a vacuum and a drill would work really well I imagine. You can even cover the sump area with towels so anything that drops would stick to those and they can be washed. Just a thought.

Vacuum yes would work.

I can't tell you how many holes I drilled in my plywood above my sump. The dust falls in every time.

It was seriously impacting the cheato. I moved it to a less than ideal place but hopefully I can get a better solution this weekend.

This reactor doesn’t allow me to do a vacuum.
