From my understanding it depends of your tank volume and consumption. Kalk reactors cant manage high consumption or big tanks were dosing container has no problem.
I do it by dosing container

I looked at both options for my 225 and decided to go with a 35g container. I spoke with some friends that have heavy uptake systems and they all said to go with the container. I’m on my 4th batch and it’s been minimal work for me.

I just got an avast reactor, and it is pretty cool. I used to have to mix my kalk in a 5 gallon bucket every week, it was messy and annoying, now all i have to do most days is to refill my ato container with RODI. To me its way more convenient than having to mess with the powder every time I have to refill my ato container. That is about all the difference I can think of TBH.

I have a 16 gal reservoir for my 135 gal tank. It lasts me about 12 days.

I dose Kalk via dosing container. I like it, it's simple and works.

I’ve done both, kalk stirrer takes a little more work with cleaning making sure it’s not clogged extra. kalk in Brute trash can/ container easier fill up with RODI add kalk and dose just make sure you get decent dosing pump easy peezy

I dose max evaporation on a 300g system (13000ml) through an avast k2 stirrer. So much cleaner and more space saving than dealing with a big trash can or some other big container.

We use both for service clients. The issue with the kalk reactors is that it looses potency, and that can make stabilizing alkalinity tricky when you are dealing with alk that somewhat randomly isn’t as strong. Kalk reservoir, like a 44gal brute container takes up a lot of space but maintains potency well. If you have space, use a container, if not, reactor.

In my opinion kalk is very easily managed with a 30g brute trash bin. Just tether the dosing line 1 inch off the bottom (so it doesn't dose residue), top it with rodi whenever you need to, dump kalk in and stir it every time you top it off. It's that easy, never had any issues with this.

Brute trash can along with a brs 50ml a minute dosing pump on a digital timer. The tiny lines on many auto dosers will plug. I just added fully saturated kalk and kept the dosing hose suspended so it didn't pull any of the sludge from the bottom. I just dumped 4 gallons at a time in to keep it filled, let a poweheads mix it fit few minutes then let it settle and back online. I cleaned the brute once or twice a years which was nothing more then rinsing the sludge out. I maintained my 180g for about 6 years with nothing but kalk but i had quite a but if evaporation in my system. I was adding 7200ml a day when I replaced the tank.
I never used a stirrer, they sounded to complicated compared to the method i used.

Good read. Can everybody using either method post their PH high and low please?
I’m using B-ionic and my low is normally 7.9 (sometimes 7.8-) and high is 8.1 (8.2 on a nice day with windows open )
