Hey guys, I'm adding an avast marine kalk reactor. For those who runs a kalk reactor, what's another alternative for a dosing pump. I have a aqua lifter laying around. Would I be able to use it to add RO water to the reactor being controlled through my apex? Also what's your apex programming for the kalk reactor/ doser?

I feel that a pump would be very hard to control volume. That is what a doser makes easier.

I have my reactor fed by DŌS. It feeds in 2 liter of tank water and pumps out 2 liters of kalkwasser in a day. I added advanced programming to the DŌS as follows for both the input and output:

Code:
If OUTPUT DOSEKALK = OFF Then OFF

I created a virtual outlet name [DOSEKALK] defined as follows:

Code:
Set OFF
If pH < 8.28 Then ON
If pH > 8.30 Then OFF
If Alkx7 > 9.50 Then OFF
If Output MAINTENANCE = ON Then OFF
If Output FEEDTIME = ON Then OFF

Used together, the DŌS doses on a schedule, but is limited by a few metrics or modes.

You can adapt this to work with a pump, but it will be tricky to get precise dosage.

I don't have dos. Do you know another alternative?

You can use any doser. They would offer better control than a pump for this application. I just have an example of what I did. You could just set volume to dose using your doser and have Apex turn it off or on depending on how you’d like to limit dosing. I’m not sure how common that configuration might be.

Ok gotcha

For me i use a 160 gph aquarium water pump from ebay they are $9 each. The inner barb fits 1/4 ro tubing.
This is probably the cheapest way ha

I run my ATO through my kalk stirrer at night. I have a branch of my ATO feed with a tap on each. One feed goes to the stirrer the other direct to my sump. At night Before bed I open the tap to the stirrer and close the one direct to the sump.

By doing this, does your alk and cal stay stable?
