I can't compare products because all I ever used was Mrs wages pickling lime. The tank is no longer running but I was very happy with the results. I dosed just under my evap rate (7200ml) over 24hrs to keep alk 8-8.5 dkh l never tracked pH.

I’ve recently started using kalk and I liked how Avast Marine’s powder mixed better than the BRS stuff. I use a Geo KR818 gen 3 reactor that mixes once a day for 1 min and keeps the liquid saturated. I did a little research and was able to find a 50lb bag of the exact product for very cheap. This bag should last me the rest of my life lol.

Mrs. Wages pickling lime. Do not get pickling spice they are not the same

It's the only thing I have ever used since about 2001.

First in tandem with a ca reactor and now kalk with 2 part.
The kalk is in a stirrer (the avast one) and I do 2 cups every 2 weeks.

I've primarily used Mrs. Wagner's pickling lime and BRS and never noticed much difference between them. I've been happy with both.

@andrewey YES! I use Mrs. Wages pickling lime and have used it for quite some time now...even have it on a kamoer doser so it drips constantly....I have tried several brands prior and honestly the only difference was the $$$ leaving my wallet!

In the fall, this stuff usually sells for ~4/lb, so I've historically stocked up when I had large tanks with high demand. Just in case anyone is looking, the rest of the year, Amazon and Walmart will increase the price quite a bit, so look at other stores (e.g. ace) or stock up when it's normal price. When it's hard to find and I'm running out, that's when I've turned to BRS.

Since I've started using Kalkwasser around 2019 I've always used BRS Kalkwasser. Like many other's after all the changes with BRS I figured let me see if I can find an alternative. Ordered some ESV Kalk around 2 months ago(not a fan of ESV their products seems like water but it was around the same price or a little less)to give it ago while my tank is lightly stocked. Always ran Kalk 1-2 ml per minute + 2 part(I just like running both)& man this product just couldn't keep up my Alkalinity even at 3 ml per minute & I knew my tank demand wasn't increasing that much. Cleaned out the Kalk reactor & added the BRS Kalk & BOOM instant spike after 12 hrs at the same 2ml per minute just after 12 hrs..safe to say ESV Kalk goes in the trash..BRS it is..for now..
