Anybody make a switch from kalkwasser to All for Reef? My most recent ICP test is showing low trace elements just about everywhere and Tin is very high. I think the tin is being introduced from Kalkwasser. Anybody share similar experiences?

How do your corals look? How’s your growth? I was considering splitting my afr with kalk as I’m assuming my pH runs on the low side. I’m waiting on an Apex before I decide anything. But I’m planning to incorporate some kalk eventually for pH bump.
Just wondering if this change is related
To the icp test or is there an issue with your corals you are looking To remedy.
I do like A4R. I go through about 2L every month and a half or so. Tank is growing and corals looking good. Super simple.

Why do you think it is the kalk? It may be from any plastic types in the system, including the kalk reservoir, if you have one. Tin is used as a stabilizer in PVC. It's not likely to be very high in the calcium hydroxide itself, assuming you used a food or pharma grade.

How high is it?

Hey thanks for replying Randy. Tin is currently at 27 ug/l. I’m also low all across the board when it comes to my trace elements which is another reason why I’m considering making the switch.

There’s nothing wrong with switching, except the pH decline, which may be small. :)
