This might sound a little weird. I have a friend who is bringing back Maine lobster for me. I have a 45g with sump.. Can I keep one in the sump for a day or two??

I think the water maybe a little to warm in your system, when I used to catch them diving here in Jersey I would put them in paper bags and put them in the fridge. They can stay alive like that for a few days......or just put them in a cooler with no water, that should keep them going for at least a day or two.

Hmm.. I didn't really put two and two together there with them being cold water. Ha. Yeah, i think I'm best off just leaving them in the cooler they came in with the wet paper towels.

I dive for lobster every year. When I get home with them I rip the tail off and put it in a vacuum sealed bag. Then throw in the freezer. They stay fresh that way

Ha, and I just picked up your your username. I'm from Phila, on the cool side of the Delaware..

A lobster will live about a week wrapped in wet newspaper in the fridge. After all, all they really are are the cockroaches of the sea. You do know what they say about cockroaches dont you. Hope that doesn't ruin your appetite.

They being cold water critters is one issue, the other is you don't want anything they may be carrying to infect/infest your tank.

if it was a spiny lobster you'd be fine. other than the obvious parasite/disease/your tank water is really nasty issues.

Hmm. I do have an unused chiller. I could mix up some salt and keep them in a rubber maid. Ha. But I'm prob just going to be a man and eat them all tonight. Maybe invite a friend...

They came wrapped rather nicely. And do I mind eating sweet sweet sea cockroaches. None in the least!
