Kenya coral dying? Or?

I have had this big tree thats grown into the centerpiece of my tank. It's bloomed every day since ive had it (1 year). Out of the blue it stopped blooming 2 days ago. One day it was enormous, now it stays shrivelled. Water parameters are good and there's nothing around it to irritate it. And there is nothing i can think of that might have contaminated the water.

Anyway, i did a 30% WC on day two. I noticed as well my shrooms are acting a bit sad. All my sps and lps are doing just fine as well as my leather and Gsp.

Any ideas?

Judging from the picture I would say it's fine. Judging from saying water parameters are "fine" and shrooms acting sad I would say you potentially have an issue. In general kenya tree is one of the toughest corals. I have one that drops frags weekly and there have been times I forgot to put frags back into the water for hours and they recovered.

Whats mind boggling is that this happened overnight. Friday night, everything was huge and bloomed. Then Saturday morning neither my shrooms or Kenya opened up and my Zuma's are smaller than normal as well. All water tests came back normal, so is this just a fluke thing?

Weird you say this because I have a Kenya Tree that about three days ago shriveled up and has not bounced back since. All tests show great, everything else in the tank are doing good as well except for the Kenya. I hate to take it out because I’ve had it for about two years now and I love it. Just wish I knew why so I could help it.

Anyone out there with answers I would appreciate it.

I’ve had the same issue with mine for the past three days now and haven’t been able to come up with a reason. Everything else is doing fine in my tank, parameters are good so I’m at a loss as well.

I hate to pull it out as I’ve had this Kenya for two years now and love it but hate the thought of it messing other things up in my tank as well.

When is it too late to make that call to keep it in the tank and hope it recovers or pull it? Anyone with some answers on how to help this guy out I would appreciate it.

What are your PH, Alk, Cal, Mag and Salinity #s? This will give us a baseline to determine why your Kenya is not open. Also a Kenya is a leather that occasionally sheds its skin and closes up before doing so.

I have seen soft corals decide on their own it was “shedding time” and shed off a layer of mucus for say a week. Then return to fully open after its all done.

This (a) gives a fresh layer for food collection. And (b) removes anything that might have been not so welcome on it.

Just out of curiosity, check NH3, with right tester. Or take sample to LRS, have them test. Just a thought
