Hello,

I would like to upgrade the lighting on my 60 gal 36" tank. I currently run an old 27" maxspect razor.

I can get a pretty good deal on a pair of new Kessil a160we tuna blue. I think this would be enough for my tank since I mostly have LPS corals and I'll add a couple of SPS, but still very LPS dominant.

The thing is that these lights are like 10 years old... Would you still buy this model in 2025 ? They normally sell for around $340 CAD but now they are on sale at $255. This would cost me around $700 for 2 a160 kits (with mounts and cables). The other option I'm considering is the new nicrews gen2, but are not out yet in Canada. Radions are too expensive.

Thanks !

Can you get the same deal on a ap9x? If I remember correctly, the 160s, are good for 24x24, leaving you a few inches short. But then again if you have your tank set up with 2 focal points in rockwork, It could work.

This tank is a 75g, and it does a decent job. Little dark on the edges, but def hot spot in the middle.

Thank you !

I read that a160s can cover around 18x18 for a mixed reef, so I thought that two would do it. The ap9x is also on sale, but still way more expensive... I can get it for $970 + mount, so around $1100...
