Kessil A360 Fan Replacement

Hello Everyone,

So, I bought a used light a month ago, and several days into the light running, the fan started making noise and it progressively got worse. I verified the serial number with Kessil and it was out of warranty. I then took the light apart and cleaned it(it was slightly dirty, but not terrible), and put it back together.

The fan continued to have issues, so I sent it into Kessil and they said it could not be fixed because the fan was broken and the light was overheating, and it would have to be sent to their global headquarters with all these extra shipping costs. I decided to just get a new light at a discount from them and kept the old light.

So...I'm getting the old light back tomorrow and want to try and replace the fan. Can anyone help me figure out where I can get a new fan and any tricks/do's-don'ts on how to replace it?

I just don't want to throw away the light because of a fan. TY!

Great question. I've honestly never had an A360 apart. But if the fan is anything like a standard computer fan it can be taken apart and regreased. I've done this multiple times to computer fans that have stopped spinning. Following along to see how it works out for you :)

I think Newegg sells some if they fit. Digi-key like was posted has dimensions for width too.

Kessil really should offer these as a replacement part. Fans go even though my kessils have not and I have known people who have had them for years with no issues.
My Two ATI fixtures I have to replace the fans every year just about they are horrible. if they slow down at all on one of my fixtures the ballast shuts off.
So Kessil must use a pretty good fan.

Not sure what the dimensions of the fan are but you can find a 60mm, 48v fan here. There is a 38mm width available as well but I'd think the 25mm to be a closer match given the size of the light.

Mouser is another place I used to get hard to find electronics..
If you find the appropriate one let us know.
If I had the time I would pull mine apart and see if I could find one, I would not mind having a spare.
I know there is a thread somewhere on pulling them apart, they hide a few screws I guess.
Also people should use compressed air on their fixture from time to time to blow them out, it will make them last longer.

I'm not an expert in electronic repair but I am handy, so I'm sure I can figure it out.

I'm really not into replace for replacing sake but in this case and at $15 I'd not bother.
Unless you want to continuously oiling them..
Bearings are probably already damaged..

Just peel the sticker back and use a light oil like sewing machine oil..

If you want to fill the well with oil and let the fan sit for a while, so the oil can permeate the bearing a bit, fine. But soak up the excess with something before you put the sticker back on, or you'll just make a mess. You'll probably also need to de-grease the plastic back of the fan, in order to get the sticker to adhere again.

The above instructions apply to pretty much every rotary fan you'll find in a PC....

If you catch a deteriorating bearing before it gets too bad, though, you can make the fan live a lot longer with a few drops of oil. If you oil a bearing before it shows any symptoms, the thing can live for a lot longer than the manufacturers expected.

Chances are it's already been oiled or run longer dry than good for it..

I've always used automotive grade wheel bearing grease. That way it's a heavy duty high temperature grease.

For anyone interested... I’m in the process of replacing the fan in an A360we manufactured in 2014 and I purchased a 48vdc fan based off of this and a couple other threads. Unfortunately my fan is 12vdc. It would be wise to open and check first. Learn from my mistake!

Also it appears to be a 2 wire fan with a 3 pin connector (molex??)
