Hi all, I have a Kessil A360X that I stopped using for a while and recently plugged back in to find that it flickers on and off sporadically. It seems to be the supply of power itself that is the issue (as opposed to the LED array) because when it goes off, the WiFi dongle also loses power.

I opened it up and cleaned it to the point that it looks nearly brand new. There wasn't much dust to begin with, and no visible corrosion. I also tried a brand new power supply to no avail.

Another strange aspect is that it'll pretty much always turn back on when unplugged and plugged back in, but only briefly.

I'm thinking it's some issue way over my head, and debating sending it to FixReef.com, but wanted to check in here first. Anyone have any experience with this?

I’d blow it out with compressed air. Sometimes moisture and dust will build up and the fan has to be spun up to clear it. Also putting it into a sealed bag with desiccant for a few days may help.

I haven’t tried desiccant, but I did open it up the other day, blew all the dust out, then cleaned it up with a bit of rubbing alcohol. No change, unfortunately.

You probably already saw my recent A360X repair video.

There is literally a myriad of hardware issues with this model specifically. You likely have one or more problems going on at the same time. In my video above I think I found about 10 separate failures in the light before it started working again. It's a bit of an extreme case and not all of them have everything failing at once. But the problem with your light is somewhere in one of those.

I appreciate the video. It serves as a great deterrent to me attempting this myself haha

Mind if I ask what that would cost? Worst case scenario, so to speak.

You’re right, that was a little dopey haha

I’ll reach out via his website. Thanks.

Oh, didn't mean it that way at all, sorry. They may be able to give other advice and/or recommendations. Or not but at least you tried. That was all I meant.

Hope your day is well.

Oh no, I didn’t take it any other way. I just know that you’re right, and also that a lot of folks on these forums don’t like talking about things like that in public posts. Appreciate it! Hope you’re doing well, too.
