Just got my 360x hooked up today for a test run. I have been running the 360we for 1.5 years now over a 40 cube. I’m getting ready for a new build with a reefer 625 xl and have been debating between Kessil A360x and Ecotech XR15. I have liked the color and of course the shimmer on the Kessil but always thought the color pop was lacking compared to the Radion, but I must say that being able to add the violet, red and greens to the tuna blue spectrum makes a huge improvement.. looks a lot more like the color pop I see with Radions and the color blending and shimmer are still perfect. I love that I can do moonlighting now with the 360x vs. complete darkness at night. Corals and fish really do have much better colors.
I set one of the preset modes match how I was lighting my tank with the 360we before on the new spectral controllerX and I can scroll back and forth between the old look of the kessil and my new program and wow what a difference.

Initial settings during most of the day are 50 color, 50 int with violet 40, red 20, green 5
I will update if I change anything.

I just started a water test on my plumbing for my new tank. I’ll get some par measurements for the 360x tomorrow and post them.

Just playing around with the moonlight features and It’s nice the violet is really nice as well.

So I took a bunch of reading with my Seneye today here are some of the results

Tank: 25g IM Nuvo black, I had all flow off so the water surface was at about about 10.5” mark
Light: mounted in the center of the tank 7.5” off the water
Par meter: seneye on a cpvc wand I built

Reading were taken at the
Bottom: (this is approximately 1” - 1.5” off the bottom because of the thickness of the sensor
Mid Tank: I just eyed this up so they may be slightly off. If I was going to do this again I would make cpvc spacer that would hold the sensor at the exact height I wanted to test
Top: I made sure there was about 1” of water over the sensor

I tried to keep the sensor level so that I would get the effects of reflection off the glass (I did see higher readings in the from vs the back of the tank (this tank has a black back pane of glass)

Here is the setup, it’s in my bathroom to test the plumbing. I also lowered the light about 1.5” before I did the tests

Some initial readings

UV at 100% directly below the light is 100 par at the surface and 25 at the bottom

For the rest of the tests I kept the UV at 100 Red at 20 and Green at 10 (this seems to be what I’ve heard people using over there tanks so I went with it)

So here are some reading with intensity at 100 and changes to the color from 0-100

All reading have two values, directly over the light and on the side of the tank (12 from the light, this was harder to get so has some variance)

Color (Intensity 100)
0 - Top: 405/120 Mid: 225/100 Bot: 155/70
20 - Top: 460/60 Mid: 290/90 Bot: 170/75
40 - Top: 480/80 Mid: 280/150 Bot: 170/90
50 - Top: 470/150 Mid: 290/140 Bot: 169/120
60 - Top: 450/115 Mid: 260/130 Bot: 165/80
80 - Top: 425/110 Mid: 280/155 Bot: 165/90
100 - Top: 400/120 Mid: 270/100 Bot: 170/80

As you can see pretty decent par numbers for this tank. Also the whole color range is pretty close in par value

I did a similar test but I changed the intensity
I used a color of 40 as I liked that and kept UV at 100, red at 20 and Green at 10

Intensity (color 40)
20 - Top: 270/100 Mid: 150/85 Bot: 85/40
40 - Top: 330/100 Mid: 210/95 Bot: 130/120
60 - Top: 440/120 Mid: 260/80 Bot: 140/77
80 - Top: 460/130 Mid: 270/165 Bot: 165/110
100 - Top: 460/150 Mid: 310/160 Bot: 165/160

I also did a grid across the whole tank with color at 40 intensity at 60 and uv-100, r-20 and g-10

Here are some the interesting readings
- Back corners on the bottom were about 50 par, the front corners were about 120 par. My guess is from the reflection off the side and front glass.
- the top corners were all around 50 par, I wasn’t expecting much but that is still decent and shows the spread on this light
- the middle of the tank (12” from the front glass and 5” from the bottom read as follows
Left Side - 140
Left side 6” from side glass - 220
Middle - 240
Right side 6” from side glass - 220
Right side - 120

I think 60% int is a great starting point for me as it put most of my acros in the 200 par range and as the grow toward the surface they will get higher par.

Hope this help people

Hey guys I’m getting my new A360x tomorrow but I will be doing the hybrid t5 set with them

This is exactly the reason why I purchased them as well. Just Incase I want a hybrid T5 setup.

I hate to say this but I’m liking this more than the XR15. However, I like the App controllability feature of ecotech.

I never had the radions I was coming from a maxspec fixture and kessil is night and day to them

I am debating on getting the a360x..been a radion guy but want a change. I have a reefer 170 and concerned that there will be too much light bleeding on the sides of the tank.. any feedback will be great.. Thanks

Here’s a look at my new setup, it is the 625 xxl with 2 Kessil a360x right now, probably go at least 1 more maybe 2 when I start adding corals.
These pics may help you see the spread or any light spill on this 5 ft tank. I think you will like the lights. I do recommend getting the spectral x controller to go with these lights, very nice options available with the controller.

Thanks for the pictures!! Those tanks look awesome!!

I purchased the A360x and unloaded both my Gen XR30s and excited to try out kessil. I didn’t buy the controller, just going to run off my Wemo for now and wait for the WiFi dongle to come out

I wish they would have come out with the wifi dongle at the same time as the lights. I mean come on, would it have killed them to have someone working on that at the same time to get it up and going for the lights release??

I picked up a 360x to see how it compared to the 360w's i have over my 400g tank. Looks like i will be purchasing 5 more now to replace or add to since i have them to help get rid of any shadowing . The color is so much nicer, no separation of colors in the shimmer either. They got them to blend perfectly.

I am very impressed with the Kessil.. I should have made a switch from the radions a while ago.. though I cannot enjoy them since the tank is on a cycle. I am hoping before this cycle is over, that the dongle will be out. I hope they get it right this time, but I heard, the A700 had some issues.

The controller really makes a big difference with the color control. We have two A360X's over a Red Sea 250 and it looks great.

So is the violet channel is the UV channel and would peak the UV spectrum in the light? Not really a whole lot of info out there explaining the new color options.
Seems one would crank that during peak hours. Correct?

What are your settings? Good looking mix, guys .

I came out of acclimation mode a few weeks back and trying to slowly dial in my preferred spectrums/color.
Thanks, here is what I have been using (I can't take credit for it as I copied another users schedule on the 360X schedule thread):

5:00am Clr=0, Int=1, Vi=0 R=0, G=0

9:00am Clr=10, Int=30, Vi=10 R=5, G=5

12:00pm Clr=30, Int=70, Vi=70 R=15, G=15

2:30pm Clr=50, Int=80, Vi=80 R=15, G=15

5:00pm Clr=30, Int=70, Vi=70 R=15, G=15

7:00pm Clr=0, Int=10, Vi=5 R=0, G=0

8:00pm Clr=0, Int=1, Vi=0 R=0, G=0

10:00pm Clr=0, Int=0, Vi=0 R=0, G=0

I am thinking that if the dongle is not when my cycle is done, I may have to bite the bullet and get the controller.
