Appreciate the input my friend.
Just wondering how the new a80 would do on a 29.

Id get the larger kessil if your having lps, the little kessil is too new to say yes. But if your tank is shallow enough even a 1watt led close enough can replicate full sun intensity.

The good thing about the a80 is that it you can mount direct on your biocube hood as it comes with a mount for canopies. Then if you need another it's as simple as screws.

It's too small.
If you want a Kessil go to a larger fixture or be ready to order another a80:)
You really don't think it's enough for zoas?
The 160 is 40 watts and I never ran it all the way up.

I'm saying it won't give you a correct corner to corner (Even) led lighting spread. They're cool little fixtures. Try one if you need to add another with the Kessil controller, So Be it!

You think a larger Kessil is too much. We'll you can always reduce the intensity so your not cooking corals.

I had an old "Red Sea" 130 (34 gal). When Kessil just hit the market with the a350w (95 watts) I had to have over that tiny reef. Back then people said I was crazy. "It's over kill and you will fry you corals." I wanted the a350w spread for no led shadowing. Figured I could aways fine tune the color and intensity. Well three months later and after seeing my corals, Boy did they change their tune. After that we ALL realized how important led even spread really can be the difference in easy led success and big time failure.

I never ran it over 40% max intensity.

I'll give it a try.
Can't hurt. I need new lights anyways, the led kit installed now are loosing their power.
They are old and zoas are reaching out.

I have an A80 on my BioCube 29 also. How's it going for you? What schedule are you running?

I threw it on my 14 biocube instead.
But it is doing great on there and plenty of corals are growing and seem to like it.

I have it on a 12 hour cycle.

+1

One unit will easily get the job done on a nano Bio-Cube :)

Did you get the Spectra Controller too?

I did.
I wish they would just make a built in controller though.
That would be nice lol

I'm running 4 units and I like the one controller.
Lol, They'ed cost a lot more if each had their own controller.

They could work on a wifi or blue tooth option to be able to talk wireless to the controller.

I did run to Best Buy and got a longer audio cable link so I could hide the controller away from any water.

I'm really happy with my purchase and getting the same Kessil shimmer that the bigger units produce.
My SPS are very happy and my Wall Hammer (Balloned Out) and is basking under them. :)
