I don't know if this is the appropriate spot for a light question, but it's directly related to SPS...

Is a kessil 150 deep ocean blue (15K) good enough to grow SPS in s nano aquarium assuming all parameters are good?

Not a lot of info, but I'll say yes, definitely. Then, I'll say depending on the depth.

Mine are doing very well in an 18" deep nano with a 360W at 75%. Maybe too much light.

Is it a Ocean Blue 15K? Or a Deep Ocean Blue 20K?

I would say you could so some of the lower light SPS with the Ocean Blue 15K, but not the Deep Ocean Blue. I had a variety of SPS over a BioCube 29 and it did great with the Sky Blue 10K.

It is the Ocean Blue 15K. What varieties of SPS would you suggest?

Most Montipora will do well. Deepwater Acroporas, Pocillopora damicormis, Seriatopora AKA birdsnest, Psammacora, and Hydnophora would all do pretty well also.

I have that light over a 29 gallon cube. It's barely enough light to go zoanthids. It can't sustain anemones either. Absolutely not enough light for spa other than montiporas

Here is the Sky Blue 10K over the 29 about two years ago. Just starting out.

Yes there are fake jellyfish in there. They are gone now, I killed them.

I got the A350 when that came out but have it turned down to 30% so I do not burn everything.

Here is the same tank today.Notice the green Birdsnest from then and now.

I will say my biggest issue with this small SPS tank over the years has not been the light but the constant struggle to stabilize the water parameters. Small bodys of water like this that have high element demands from teh corals are very difficult all on their own.

i dont even have mine up high 70b 60w doing just fine so im sure with a 15k kessil you should be fine just make sure your placement of coral is good and ensure that they are getting either direct flow or you have a lot of flow through out the tank.

Just water changes? No reactor, dosing, nothing else?

Nice colors!

Thanks

i didnt include that because i was just stating it is possible i does 2 part and BP reactor..

I have been dosing 2 part and I was adding aquavitro fuel but cut that out. The 2 part dosing was every week, now it's every other day. If I miss a day the alk drops and everything gets stressed.

I don't think they should be stressing out that quick if you miss a day but that all got to do with stability I know I've missed a day before but they don't stress out
