KH Guardian AIM "DHCP Failed"

Just got the monitor yesterday and hooked up to ethernet with no issues. But when I hook up the AIM monitor, it says DHCP failed. Any suggestions from you guys?

To add to this, I don't need to keep the ethernet cable connected to hook the AIM with Apex do I?
