So far my experience with the kh monitor and the tech support has been un acceptable, trouble ticket was opened on October 9, tech connected to my machine and updated firmware to allow the AIM output voltage to be adjustable. The issue why I created the ticket was the reading on the apex was different then the kh monitor. Seemed like that is where the trouble started (new firmware)
Next day apex is reading 2.55 dkh, kh monitor reads 12.05, red sea test kit reads 9.6 and hanna is 10.01.
Coralvue reply’s on the trouble ticket with a new AIM to be sent to me and will send tracking info,..3 days ago,..no reply
I have called the tech support number many times no answer,3 emails and posts on tickets over the course of 3 days,..no reply
I am 750 plus into this investment!! 1 PM1 and 1 KH monitor,...ugh
I want to keep the system and make this work, and understand that they can be busy but at this point I want to exchange for refund.
Not Happy =(
I haven't as I use a VPN tunnel to get to it but it shouldn't be any different than setting it up for any other service on your network.Anyone set up port forwarding for their KHG?
I do this but also use the aim module so I can read dKH thru Apex fusion.Anyone set up port forwarding for their KHG?
Happy to report that my Guardian is working without issue. I know others have experienced some minor problems and the only I problem I faced was accessing the Guardian via the web initially, but since addressing that she's been humming along keeping ALK at 8.8-9.1
Which probe is everyone switching to?Mine also is now working perfectly since I swapped to a high-end PH probe. Coral Vue was also super cool in that they sent me 2 free packets of reagent to make up for all the reagent I wasted.
Kinda glad I'm waiting for apex to release there's coral vue always has a. Attitude and arrogance I no longer buy anything from them and yes Carlos is extremely rude
For the most part, Coralvue is the weakest link from a customer service perspective, but they've always taken care of my cases. I don't know Carlos but I can have empathy that he's probably short handed and extremely busy. I think the answers are usually short or canned and then you wait for another day sometimes unless you respond right when you get their message. That's all in my experience.I dont regret buying the KHGuardian, it does what it's supposed to do. I do worry that at some point I wont be able to get reagent for it anymore because I'm sure they haven't sold many of them and will probably quit making it.
So I decided to bite the bullet and order a KHG controller from Coralvue. I've decided that I wanted to share my experiences with you, my fellow reefers on Reef2Reef. Let me start out by saying I don't want this thread to turn into an argument about whether it is worth the money or not. Too me it is!!! (I will waste my money how I please, and you are welcome to do the same! ;))
I've never started a build thread on Reef2Reef, It's not my style, so I will do my best to integrate some info about my system to try and make up for that, but also to provide everyone with a guideline of how I choose to operate my reef.
First off, lets get to the goodies... here's the tank... It was started in late Feb 2016, so it's approaching it's one year birthday. We just won a battle with bryopsis (using fluconazole) so I filmed a short, shakey video to show the tank in it's now algae free state.
Now onto the other good stuff!
First off the KHG came today, and I nearly had a heart attack (I know I am not the only one). The box says the "standard edition"... I ordered the pro!!! OH NO!!! (Silent freak out). Called customer service and left a message. Then hopped on here and messaged the friendly folks at Coralvue, who promptly replied back that the manufacturer had put the wrong sleeves on the box and they were 100% sure it was the Pro unit... So I unwrapped it... opened the box... and indeed there was a card stating that the unit was indeed the pro model (WHEW... crisis/heart attack averted). Once again Coralvue, thank you for responding rapidly. Carlos at Coralvue called a short time later to respond to my message, I told him Chris had straightened me out and thanked him for calling me back so quick.

So that's it for now. After receiving it I realized I need to upgrade my router desperately. Tomorrow I will be going to Best Buy and getting a new router and then running all the neccissarry infrastructure to install the KHG. I also need to pick some vessels for the reagent, the bicarbonate solution, and a waste container.
I will do my best to keep everyone updated on progress :)
Happy Reefing!!!
Not really.Don't see a need for calcium monitor if you already have the KHG. Alk and CA deplete at the same ratio.
