Definitely rubber needs to be inside the part attached to the KHD. The probe slides into it and as the nut is tightened onto those teeth it puts pressure on the rubber piece to keep water from seeping out around the probe.

Shouldn't be needed after hand tightening and a 1/8 of a turn with pliers to really snug it up. If you were to use it though, both the inside and outside of the oring to help seal things. I would also lube after partially inserting the probe.

Cinch that sucker down and make sure you run it for a few days with some type of absorbent under that outlet.

Correct, but it really shouldn't be needed. Just an "I'm I going to break it?" wrench tighten.
would vaseline affect the machines testing ? anythign inside valesline that will disrupt the testing ?

Thankfully I found this thread. GHL had to replace the board on my unit because of a water leak. They should instruct you to put the gasket inside that opening before screwing the probe in. I had no idea until I read this. Thank you! After they replaced the board they never told me either and it just happened again. Hopefully because I caught it early no water made it into the unit.
