Killer at night - help!!

Better than the dim flashlight mentioned above is to use the same technique, but use a red LED. Most of the hitchhikers in our tank can't see red (I'm assuming a lack of rods in the eye - humans have rods and cones).

I ordered a cheap one from China, waited a month to get it, and then spent literally an hour from 1am to 2am just staring at all of the bristle worms, brittle stars, and others in my tank that I had never seen.

Die, evil one! How did you find him & catch him?

Spotted him one night and pulled the rock before he could move out. Had to smash hole through the bottom of it to get him out, now it has a cool little cave in it.

In my case it was a gorilla crab. It ate soft coral and fish. I never caught it even when I woke every two hour to check the tank for over two weeks! Trap didn't work either. Then I removed everything from the tank and my daughter spied it hidden in a rock. Very satisfying to kill it.

My guess is that it's the Coral Banded Shrimp. I had one that was a terror. He ended up in my sump
