Hello All, first post here. I live in SF and am about to set up and cycle a 75g reef ready tank. I got a bunch of dead live rock and a bunch of live rock in a functioning tank recently, but I'm not sure if it's healthy. I've been warned about antipasto (aipastio--SP?) so I'm taking lots of precautions.
My plan is to purchase cultered, ready to go reef rock from my LFS to help cycle the tank, and add the rock below in as well.
The dead rock is awesome branch like antler coral looking rocks. Very dried out. I'm soaking it in a bleach/water solution for a week. Whats the consensus after that to introduce it to the tank? Water soak? I'm not comfortable with the muriatic acid bath. Looks too dangerous.
Next question, with the live rock, I culled through and got some great pieces there. They are also soaking in a bleach/water bath in a different tub. Same question...what's the consensus to get ready to introduce into my new tank?
Thanks in advance
