This isn't a new tank it's been up for almost 2 years. I bought it from a neighbor after she had it for 9 months. Here are some pictures of it when I first got it.

Wow this was a while ago. I had forgotten I started this thread (well that and it was very hard to update anything with this entire forum blocked at work lol). I no longer have this tank but I do have tons of pictures and modifications that I did to it while I had it. If anyone is interested I can do some updates and fill in what I did before I sold the tank and upgraded.

Anyone interested? :)

So I made three significant updates to this tank while I had it. They were HOB skimmer, Bio-pellet reactor, and LED lighting. Which one should I post first? LED was most involved and bio-pellet reactor was the least. Who else is running one of these and is looking for info on one of these three things for their tank? Then I can post that first.

Here are the mods I did to the stock LED hood. The stock hood has 5 rows of white LEDs, 4 royal blue dawn/dusk LEDs and 2 royal blue moonlight LEDs. This isn't nearly enough blue in it so I wanted to add more blue LEDs.

Here are the stock blue LEDs on.

Here is what I added to the hood. The stock blues are on the white discs scattered in the hood. the lights I added are the ones connected by the yellow wire. I added 10 royal blues and 2 UV LEDs.

Then I still didn't like the way the lights worked so I really changed up the hood. I added a bigger fan to help cool it, Added dimmer controls and replaced three of the white LED strips with more blues and other colored LEDs to round out the spectrum of light.

This is the fan I added. I had to modify the flange on one side to fit it in the hood.

The whites that come in the hood are all 10,000k white and so I added some warm whites, a deep red, a green, 2 actinics, 3 azure, and a salmon. I don't remember the wavelength of them all but I can look it up is anyone is interested (please don't be interested). lol

I do. I'll be posting them as I go. Lots of changes to this tank both with equipment and with the life in the tank. I'll add a few more things each night as I go along. I was going to just post it all at once but that would take me 2 full days to get all the pics loaded and type everything to try and describe what it is. lol

If anyone has questions about any of this stuff please ask. I'm only posting minimal information in these posts so if you need more detail just ask.

Here is the next project. I needed a skimmer for this tank so I got an Aquamaxx HOB-1 and then did a couple of modifications to it so that it would fit better. On the tank.

So first was shortening the return tube so that the elbow doesn't extend so far into the filter box and block the lid from opening. So I cut 1" off of the length of the pipe.

Here is how the elbow fit originally before the trim.

Here is how it fit after the trim.
IMAG1358-20160710-13104935.jpg

Then I needed to trim the pick up tube as well so I cut the same amount off of it.
IMAG1360-20160710-150119728.jpg

Here is how much I trimmed off.

Here is the fit with the down tube installed.
IMAG1365-20160710-132135800.jpg

Here is the spot that the skimmer will go on the tank.
IMAG1368-20160710-131821435.jpg

Here is the skimmer on the tank. You can see how trimming the pipes moved the connections back to leave some room for the lid to open. It also made it fit around all the other equipment I have in there.
IMAG1372-20160710-150651865.jpg

And from the other direction. You can see how tight it is in there with all the other stuff in there. Float switches, pumps, GFO reactor tubes (that the white ones), return pumps, UV and the filter basket with the floss on top.
IMAG1375-20160710-145709140.jpg

Here is what it looked like looking over the top of the tank. You can see the skimmer cup and the air tubing the rest of the skimmer is not very visible from the front.
IMAG1377-20160710-151621455.jpg

Sorry about these other extra pictures. I couldn't find a way to figure out which ones I had inserted and which ones I hadn't so that I could remove the extras. That part was a little frustrating. I'll have to be more careful when adding pictures next time and only do the ones I really want.

Are there any questions? I see a few lurkers but no posts. Throw your questions and ideas on here and I'll be happy to answer if I know the answer. This tank had a lot of updates and modifications and I am happy to discuss any of it for those that might want to do the same or are just getting one of these tanks and would like ideas.
