Haven’t done a good job of keeping my build thread updated on here. I’ve changed my lighting from Orbit IC to 3 Hydra 26’s. They look awesome. My main problem currently is managing my alkalinity. I just got a Jebao doser and plan to get it up and running tonight. It’s crazy to look at this first picture in the thread here versus this full talk shot to see the difference and knowledge gained since the beginning!

Came home from work to find my bubble coral partially buried in sand courtesy of my pistol shrimp. It looks pretty ticked off. What’s the prognosis?

Added a pintail wrasse today! In addition added a golden rhomboid wrasse, and a tailspot blenny. QT for a few weeks, treated with prazi, and an obs period.

All fish are doing well. My bubble coral is still alive.... not much progress improving in health though.

@KMench I saw somewhere on this website you have an Octo Regal 150 sss? Do I have the right person? Is it on this build? I just bought one and it should be here tomorrow or Wednesday.

Hi! Yes I got the skimmer about a month or two ago now. It’s great :) so much quieter than the old one I had. Yes I’m currently running it on my 75. It’s aboht 90 g total water volume. I’m running it on speed 3 out of 5 total. I checked my phosphates the other day and they were .037 ppm. I’m only using about half the recommended amount of GFO and have a fuge that’s on reverse cycle lighting.

@KMench Do you rely on the float switch to shut your skimmer pump off when the cup is full or do you just dump it before it gets there. Seems like the float switch would be handy to avoid overflows, something that would pay for itself. But there would be down-time if you went from switch shut-off to shut-off.

I normally just dump it before it gets to the float valve. I skim pretty dry, so I empty it probably about once a week. Maybe more if I’m feeling ambitious.

@KMench do you have an Apex? I'm thinking when I set up my Octo Regal skimmer it will be on 3rd party control with my Apex. I'll do it that way so when my skimmer float switch trips it will send me an alarm. Also when the Apex goes into feed mode, it will dial down the skimmer motor power so it doesn't power off completely. Easier on the motor powering down a bit versus power off completely. And you still won't get skimmer to go nuts with excess organics while in feed mode.

Finally beat the dreaded dinos! After daily siphoning, peroxide, nutrient dosing, and finally a blackout period, they’re gone!

Struck by the dreaded velvet! Had to drain my tank and catch all the fish for QT. Got a few fish from a local shop and didn't QT them out of stupidity. Lost the three anthias I bought, but now everyone has been in QT and has been in therapeutic copper for 8 days. Headed back uphill!

Quarantine for velvet is coming to an end. I’ve began to add fish back to the DT. Picked up some nice corals from Battlecorals too!

Thread update to show two epic Vivid corals I added to the tank! These are the momma colonies from Vivid. I'm hoping my frags look like this one day!

Yes, I’ve been using the Jebao doser now for about a year. Does the trick and was easy on the wallet :)
