I’m wondering if lunar cycle tied in with moon lights have any affect on coral? I’ve been told they need an obligatory time of TOTAL darkness, but just how total does said dark have to be? I mean in nature there is not ALWAYS a period of total dark each night. Things run on the lunar cycle. So again... how total is this total dark?

This gets debated a fair bit. There seems to be evidence that corals time their breeding with the cycles of the moon. Not many of us see corals actually spawn in their tank though.

I say if you like the look of moonlights, run them while you’re awake. Set a timer to turn them off while you’re sleeping. :)

Has anyone tried the radion light lunar cycle? I have been kind of curious about wether or not they follow the moon patterns decently well. If anyone thinks they are too bright.

I ran the radion lunar cycle, it works and follows pretty close to what you see going on outside. Does it make a difference that’s up to debate. I will say I saw some spawning activity with shrimp, crabs, and snails while running it. Could just be a coincidence.
