Hi Jay thank you for the response. I’m trying to understand more, is it unsafe due to the “leaching” of chemicals factor?True lacquer bowls are coated wood, so not safe and might float. I think there are faux lacquerware that is plastic, don’t know if that is safe.
Jay
Just a guess here- these are safe for food, so shouldnt be toxic for fish. If they are marked dishwasher safe, they may even last for a time. My guess is that though they will eventually get waterlogged and fall apart. I still worry it may float!Hi Jay thank you for the response. Do you know if a food grade bowl would leach chemicals? Weight isn’t an issuemaybe a porcelain or ceramic wtih a fired (kiln) clear coat (glass basically) bowl would be safest?
Thanks Thaxx, just being thorough hahaI would sure hate to think a food grade bowl would leach anything harmful
Haha me either.. my nem has grown to big for its hole it was set in, now it’s starting to walk.. I just want to make it a new hole for its sizeAs long as it’s a clear coat... the colored coats (glaze) have/had metals in them to make the colors... idk.. glass is pretty non porous in general though. Never really thought about this much in terms of putting pottery in a reef tank. Hah.
