Lanthanum Chloride dosing

Bringing back my old thread as I am finally ready to get this resolved. I just made another thread about dosing lanthanum. Can you tell I am a bit nervous???

The picture above making a Lanthanum reactor looks interesting. I have everything here at the house to accomplish this. I have a NIB 20" cartridge 3 stage filter system that I can run 10/5/1 micron filters in and then feed that to the skimmer. Would feed with a small return pump, maybe 100GPH, T in a feed line for the lanthanum with check valve and dump that into the input of my skimmer.

I like this idea as it seems much easier and cheaper to find small micron filter cartridges in bulk and not deal with socks. Plus I have 10/5 on the shelf already.

This seem viable?

Seems like a fine thing to try.

I have never use lanthanum or socks, but when socks clog they just overflow in many set ups. What happens if your filters clog? May sure that does not pop a hose loose and cause a flood. lol.

When people talk about adding it to the skimmer, how exactly is that done? Do you just pour it in next to the intake…..or actually pour it down the airline?

Dose the LC in the skimmer neck.
If you add it to or in front of the pump, you will get precipitation inside the pump

I run a line into the skimmer neck and dose. Put it just so It goes half way down inside the body. Works really well. I leave my skimmer drain line open in a bucket so no chance of overflow skimmer into tank. I've had no issues. I actually ended up drilling the top of the skimmer and putting a john guest fitting in to make it easier and more secure.
