I’m going to be setting up a larger Fowler system in my basement late spring early summer. I’m at a crossroads with glass or acrylic so I’m looking for opinions. I like acrylic because in my experience I’ve never seen one fail not saying that it can’t. I also like glass because of the price compared to acrylic but I’m scared of it eventually failing after a long period of time. I’m looking between 135 and 240 gallons so shoot me your opinions on my little dilemma.

There are posts on here about some manufacture's glass tanks failing daily (ok-- slight exaggeration), and some manufacture's glass tanks having zero-such complaints. I think if you use the right manufacturer, you should be able to have a nice (quality) glass tank and still sleep well. Best wishes!

I choose glass unless the insulation of the tank matters in your specific situation. I would also consider and something I'm gonna do eventually is do a ground level pond. Really cool with a Fowler cause you can hand feed etc sitting next to it.

I thought about the pond thing years ago with primitive Jurassic fish but wasn’t ever stable enough to commit to it.
