Large ro water container suggestions and advice

So right now I’m working out of a brute 20g for my 90g tank. It’s round taking up more space (in a bathroom closet) and I have to drop my pump in everytime I need to put a hose on it to fill my smaller ro containers that I then drag to my ato.

I saw a square food grade container once, with a bottom opening (slightly scared of spills) but even if I went with that, would it have a enough pressure to not need a pump to push the water back up to another container?

Any other suggestions?

I use 30 gallon Brutes (and a 90 gallon DT as well) and as far as moving them around, pick up the dolly that locks into the bottom of the can. I have no problem wheeling around the cans with 25 gallons of water in them. As far as storing, I stack them on top of each other and put them in a closet.

One more thing, I make my water in the basement using 5 gallon water jugs placed in a slop sink and schlep them upstairs to add to the Brutes.

This is kind of similar to what I’m doing but in a much bigger scale.

I take up my whole bathroom running the ro water to fill up the 20g which doesn’t even feel enough for a water change (not to mention I mix in the same 20g brute because if I brought the second one upstairs that I bought I think the family would have a field day). And hidden 5g jugs, which I hate carrying (so thinking of looking for those tall thin square 2.5 gallon ones).

The top offs are easy to talk over to the tank, but the water changes are what’s a major pain. I have my kid eyeing the tank while I handle the pump in the bathroom (to make sure it doesn’t accidentally pump all over the closet and floor. Last tying my python leaked on their end all over the carpet. I know it’s all trial and error but there has to be a more manageable way while keeping the containers to a minimum. Maybe I should just do what you’re doing and keep the top offs filled in bulk in the garage and add it to a spare trash can for salt mixing when I need it. But it still feels all over the place — sorry for the rant, this is all still new even tho I had a qt for like 10 months; and the big tank up and running for over 2

See the square just free up more space to easily fit 2 compared to the round trash cans. Do you plan to add a hole at the bottom to run water, or just pump out of the top?

I have two 44 Gallon Brutes on either end of my 90 Gallon. One for ATO. One for semi-automatic water changes. I have round glass table tops on them instead of lids. They have decorative cloth end table covers (Walmart) on them. It just looks like there are end tables on each end of the tank. Works well you have room.

This wouldn’t be terrible but I built my tank and stand to fit one tiny spot in a bedroom. If my paranoia of it busting on carpet and second floor gets to me, I’ll keep this in mind for downstairs. I totally underestimated my sump space. Something like yours is such a ease.

I am going to try to drill into the top. Have the float switch hang down from the lid. My phones being dumb i cannot send photos. I will get it working tomorrow. It's much smaller than my 32g brute should be arou d 20g and thats an exact waterchange. I worry about quality over time thiugh
