Late summer in the midwest

My wife caught this pic of my grandson Parker enjoying the creek... thought it was a good shot.

This is Lindley Creek, where it runs across our property, ends up in Pomme de Terre reservoir, eventually the Osage river. Named for a family of settlers that over-wintered here in a horse drawn wagon. The creek is known for being a good place to find arrowheads and other Indian artifacts... Which is what Parker is doing. Searching for arrow heads :)

Ok, it's not saltwater... and there's no fish (to speak of) this far upstream, but I thought it was worth sharing :)

Cool pic....are you sure there is no fish? I would have a hard time not casting in there to at least try to catch something lol.

Pretty much dries up most years. Been wet enough this year to keep it running, but it's usually just a wet weather creek, this far upstream. Lots of crawdads, frogs... it's a great place to keep a game cam, but no fish.

The pond, on the other hand, is worth a cast or two... Been catching some nice crappie out of it.

Nice....I used to catch a ton of Black Crappie on Rapalas back in the day.....all of my old fishing spots seemed to have "dried up" :(
