So i just got myself a new Marineland 300DD tank and stand. So far i've ran into a few issues with the setup. One being that the stand is short. only 29" tall. Inside of the stand the room from top to bottom is 25.5" which really limits what skimmers i can have under there that are rated to handle such a large volume of water with a heavy bioload. The second issue im having is the GPH the overflows are rated for. Right now they can only handle 1400GPH total which is less than half of what i want. bare minimum i want 3000GPH. so far what i've come up with is saying screw the returns and make them gravity drains and run the returns from the back of the tank over the top. Drilling is out of the question because it will void the warranty. Lastly the teeth on the overflow cant handle that much flow so i have to elongate them somehow. if anyone has any suggestion on how to do that please let me know.
Okay, now onto the build. I'm planning on having the tank up and running in 6 months or so. So far my equipment list looks like this
