Leather coral toxic?

Will cutting a leather coral inside reef tank make hammer a coral brown jelly? Asking cause after I cut the leather inside I noticed the hammer next day brown jellied a few heads on a colony. Thanks!

Any correlation would be speculative at best. Running some charcoal may be of assistance.
