I’ve had STN problems for the first few years in the hobby, mostly because of poor nutrient export. I dialed in my nutrients pretty well for the past year and a half and corals were doing very well.

About 6 months ago, I got a green toadstool leather frag that likes to close up often (its close to a wave maker) but also opens up and grows well. Ever since then, I’ve had issues with STN almost exclusively in favia and favites. I wasn’t running carbon since I was happy with nutrients and water clarity. Anyone experience something similar in LPS? Or is this issue mostly affecting acros?

Salinity 1.025-26
Alk 9.3-9.5 (stable, Alkatronic)
Ca 450-550
Mg 1350-1500
NO3 7-12 (never <5 or >15)
PO4 0.02-0.04

Do you run carbon?
LPS, imo, like dirty water. Maybe go higher on the po4 and put some carbon in to help with the toxins.
