Guys,

Can anybody here make me "smarterer" with respect to DIY wall wash lighting?

Here's my application: I have a nano planted tank build in the works and am contemplating backlit wall wash style of lighting. The aquarium is the UNS 45T (45 cm in length) and that is where I am limited in terms of an off the shelf commercial product. Most of these wall wash light strips are minimum of 24" inches long and that is obviously too long for a 45 cm tank.

So, I am brainstorming ideas for building my own using trimmable LED strip lighting.

Has anybody built something similar (aquarium or a different application)?

TIA

Ive done them a few times. The problem with the cheap strip leds is you won't get much even spread on their own. You have to have a way to diffuse the light.

Then you are looking for a gradient light which they have in a tape or stick version. Definitely not cheap once you are looking at the light and Bridge box for control. Nice thing about Philips is you can expand into the full house once you have the Bridge set up.
I would be cautious though with how bright you go. Another light source, different color temp entering the tank…

I have no experience with this but know gaming nerds that like Govee kits for behind the monitors and such. Not sure how much wall wash you’re wanting, vs a perimeter glow. Just throwing that out there
