Legendary's Red Sea 260 REBOOT

So unfortunately one of my kids added a ton of food to my previous AIO E260 build to the point that I knew I had to break it down to clean it. I setup a temporary tank with all my fish and corals but sadly lost my clown goby and some of the more delicate SPS. All things considered it could have been much, much worse.

So given that the tank was being started over I decided to plumb in a sump and redo the aquascape. New goals for this tank will be to run it on the Triton method.

For plumbing I used the Red Sea plumbing kit for the overflow section but then replaced the in stand parts. Ordered 2 of the barbed fittings for the other 2 drains and braided vinyl with a cepex valve to adjust flow.

Red Sea E260
Trigger sapphire 26 Sump (this sump just barely fits.. I have my ATO container outside the stand)
Reef Octopus S130 skimmer
Reef Octopus Varios4 return - (a 2 probably would of been better but they are sold out everywhere)
2x MP40
2x ReefLed 90
Apex w/ 2x DOS
SmartAqua ATO
2x Eheim 150W heaters
1x inkbird controller

Looks very nice, your going to have some serious flow in there with 2 MP40’s, I’ve got 2 in my S650!

They might need turning down a bit

The E260 was my first ever reef tank, (before I got addicted !) there stunning systems although I didn’t have the sump so everything was much tighter just in the rear chamber.

And I always think pink lights in a sump makes it look very cool

Yeah it’s a bit of a strange setup, you keep all the old water volume of the old sump area (~13g) but then add the external sump volume too. I’m probably about 30-35 total gallons of sump for a 55g display. I kinda went my own direction with it though and removed the 2 AC return pumps which Red Sea has you keeping in use in their design. I oriented the valves vertically so that water pressure prevents a siphon from pulling water through the unused returns. I do kinda have a semi dead flow area in the original return chambers but there won’t be anything housed there so it’s no big deal. I have no lack of flow with 2 MP40 and a varios4 for the rest of the tank.

The MP40’s are loads better than the stock pump/flow , easier to clean and much better flow patterns so I agree

Rocks have been wet for about a week and I've been adding MB7 and Biospira along with some vinegar and a decomposing shrimp. Sump has a couple ocean live rocks as well and ammonia appears to be under control. Moved my clowns into the tank along with their Torch tonight.
