Leopard wrasse not getting along

I have a male ornate leopard wrasse in my tank doing awesome super fat eating like a pig... I decided to buy a female a couple days ago.... As soon as I put her in the tank He atacked her. So She went to the sand.... She comes out and the first thing He does is atack Her again.... Will they get alone soon? Is this part of the mating process? Right now she is under a rock, and he know She is in there.
He is going around the rock more than usual...
She is smaller than Him. She is gorgeous.... I fed the tank to see if He leaves Her alone but didnt work.

I wouldn't wait it out more than four days. Got to get the fish eating. Can you put up a mesh between them until the aggression, does or does not, dies down?

I wish I could! She is always in the sand... Afraid of Him I guess... I know She is weak because of the shipment. I dont think She is gonna last long. She is not eating anything. if He doesnt accept Her She is not gonna make it :/

I made a barrier that fits just right out of the mesh you use for the top. Also cut out a light diffuser to fit once.

You really need to put any new leopard wrasse into a uncompetitive place where it can start to eat and get over the shipping and acclimations stress. Mine either go into my main tanks refugium or into a small reef tank I have setup for twitchy newcomers.

Male wrasses that are established and have been on their own for awhile can have trouble accepting new wrasse additions, particularly closely related species and even worse with the same species.

As ca1ore stated, they really do best in an uncompetitive environment starting off.

I've done this a couple times now with leopards, but different types. A female ornate was harassed about the same by my male meleagris but only for couple days then never again. I added a small black female that he never looked at. There was a time when he chased the bipart so bad the (they were already together and fine for a long time) bipart wouldn't come out for a week but they eventually worked it out.

Any future additions will be by acclimation box for a few days
