Leopard wrasse questions?

hello, so I got a leopard wrasse from my LFS about a month ago maybe a little longer and have since heard they are expert only fish and are very hard to keep, I have had no issues with him at all, eating very well, not farting around the tank or banging into the glass or anything like that, I also read they need a 90 gal and the store told me my 75 gal was fine is this true? And are they really that hard to keep?

They can be difficult but I’ve never had a problem and I’ve kept them in as small as 50 gallons.
However, the larger the better as far as tank size goes and for fish.
They are one of my top 5 favorites!!

They're as easy to keep as any other reef fish once they're properly acclimated to their environment and they eat. Getting them to eat is what makes them difficult. But once they do, they generally eat anything you throw at them.

I usually check on live aqauria for tank size, reef safe, etc.

depends on the lfs, but most just want to make a sale. IE, mine, that is supposed to be good, sold me a hippo tang for a 90gallon. :(

Yeah I’ve definitely noticed this unfortunately

If it is young specimen than an older tank with a refuge is recommended as it allows them to feed on pods all day long.

They are expert only because they are poor shippers and can die shortly after transport. Once established, they are pretty hardy. A 75g is fine.

If it is eating and looks healthy, you've got an easy level fish. If it arrived with a broken jaw and moribund, "expert level". It is my easiest fish but only one out of three that survived shipping.

Most leopards are OK in a 3ft tank but would be happier in a 4ft+ tank.
