Hi all,
I have a 1.5" female leopard wrasse. Will she change to male with no other wrasse present or stay female? Do they change sex?- ive read conflicting information and found males and females for sale- but not sure what happens when you start with juveniles. Also if they do change and I introduce a 2nd one- will that force one to change or are 3 or more required? Is the dominant sex female like clowns or male? Thanks!

it’s my understanding that leopard wrasses in general are less likely to switch sex as they get older than other genera of wrasse, but there are no guarantees ... groups will encourage one or all to switch sex.

if you introduce a 2nd one later, i wouldn’t be surprised to witness a sex change in one or both later.

males are dominant in wrasse harems.

hth :)

Wrasses generally turn male when by themselves in captivity but anything is possible. It's why breeding them in captivity is near impossible.
