Hi guys! I have this Leptastrea coral that I have had for about 2.5 months and yesterday it developed this weird pink thing on the left side of it. Is it algae? Is it bad? What should I do about it? Thanks for your help.

Looks like two polyps have lost their zooxanthellae color. Could be bad water quality or not enough light. Really hard to tell other than its lost its internal zooxanthellae that gives it color

Interested what others may pinpoint

I have a Duncan that looks like this on a few polyps that were shaded by a fallen piece of rubble. So those polyps are still alive but the color is all washed out of them due to lack of light

I would just leave it and keep an eye on it. You could also pop it or remove it if possible. I definitely dont think its natural, maybe something fell on it or a fish pecked at it and it got injured.

Cool. I was wondering because it came up so suddenly and the rest of the coral is so healthy. Was wondering if it could be a type of algae or something.

Hey! So I never figured out exactly what it was but it did get slightly bigger and looked almost like an unpoppable bubble but then went away in maybe two months. It was still growing though and is now hppier than ever. I never dosed or dipped it either
