Let’s play nice... or not

Totally agree, my way works for me. Might not be the "professional/expert" way, but it's my way. I might not have boat loads of money to throw around like a Lotto weiner, but what I do throw around is my "safe" amount.
So we all don't have $1000's apex or Neptune setups, "high-end" lights, or custom made tanks and sumps.
We all do what we can with what we have. Especially in a hobby that has vasts amounts of different tools and resources.
the dude your opinion GIF

Whether someone started arguing or cussing shouldn’t matter, we are only responsible for our reactions and whether someone is being kind or rude should not change how we treat others. IMO context and intention shouldn’t make a difference.
No context definitely matters. I even asked the guy if he was offended after and he wasn't yet you came here to drag me down with people and have a discussion at my expense yet you preach about positivity. Thanks for blurring out my name but we both know who that was about and it was unfair and unjust. Have a great day.

I disagree, I think the context doesn’t matter as I’m going to treat everyone with the same level of respect regardless of how they treat me :)

You made it clear it was you not me. Not sure how that is my fault... the reason I made this is to make a point that hostility is rampant and addressing it and discussing our experiences may help raise awareness to fight that negative behavior :)

If context didn't matter you wouldn't have blocked out 90% of my helpful post to spin your narrative.

We are not perfect. The GREATS have posted things that may be questioned. It is important to show compassion and think before we post negativity. The internet is FOREVER.

Mods can we get this thread locked? It's basically just going in circles and the posts shown out of context are needlessly dragging others through the mud.

We agree with the point that we want everyone to be treated respectfully and with dignity. In fact, R2R is built on the principle of the Golden Rule that we should treat others as we wish to be treated. The vision of R2R is that we would be a community of people who are treated with respect regardless of level of knowledge/experience, background, or any other criteria that could be placed here.

Unfortunately, the culture of social media found on many platforms today does not demonstrate this principle. People often say things from behind the keyboard that they would not say to an individual in a person-to-person conversation. However, at R2R we really desire for this community to have the same kind of atmosphere and feel that we might have if we were sitting down at a coffee shop with friends or participating in a local reef club gathering. A huge part of that is simply treating one another with respect. We won't always agree and disagreement is actually a positive for us as individuals and for the hobby at large.

While we believe this point is at the heart of the intent of this thread, we also believe this thread has turned in a different direction at this point. In the spirit of the aforementioned goals, and believing that this conversation has run its course, we are closing this thread.

I truly believe R2R is a wonderful community made up of absolutely amazing people. I know I speak for the entire staff when I say we're blessed to be part of this great community. Have a wonderful evening.
