^ based on that, I would call my ornatus a transitioning male if not a full male, and the potters a definitive female.

And I agree on the Chaoti mine is definitely a male

Yes, transitional male.

Technically yes, but it's also possible (and much more likely) for it to get "stuck" or held in transition by being subordinate to the other males. There's nothing biological which forces the transition to terminate.

Transitioning is a high energy process. Once it begins the process it takes a combination of stressors to turn the process around. However, social pressures can prevent it from going further forward. It is more likely in aquaria for the process to go forward and not back.
